As a Long-Term care insurance specialist, It is my job to help you make decisions on how you may fund your future Long-Term Care.
I am of the belief that having a plan is always the right way to go. Especially when it comes to something as important as Long-Term care. The impact and consequences the cost of care can have on you and your family is not something to take lightly, and I am here to help guide you through this process.
Personally, I have seen the positive effects of a Long-Term care policy on both the people who needed care, and their family. My Papaw and Granny were both impacted by health problems in their 70s. For my papaw, he died at the age of 79 and used Long-Term care coverage for both in home care and care in an assisted living facility. After his death, my Granny struggled without having him. He was such a huge part of her life and everyday routine. Even though he had covered care, taking care of him and being with him was a huge part of her life. In her story, my papaw had noticed right before he passed that she was having trouble counting out his medicine. At the time no one in my family had picked up on the clues. After he passed, her cognitive ability continued to decline rapidly, and we all started to realize something wasn’t right. She was diagnosed with dementia and at first just needed supervision. She began with at home care that was paid for by her own Long-Term care insurance policy. That went on for a while, and eventually as her care needs increased (cognitive and otherwise) she moved to a nursing home facility. At the time, I was a teenager, but I have no memories of financial conversations and never recall my parents being stressed about my grandma’s options. The policy she had in place left her taken care of and gave my family the blessing of only having to focus on her in her final years. As an adult I look back and am overwhelmed by how much Long-Term Care coverage helped my grandparents and my family. These care events are something you never want to experience, but the reality is they do happen. Without these plans the effects could have been devastating for both my grandparents and my family.
It is my goal to help people of all ages with their planning, and to help other families feel the positive effects of these policies.
